When you send an enquiry

• Your name and email address
• Any dates you mention, and the message you write

When you make a booking

• Your full name, email address and phone number
• Your chosen pick-up and drop-off dates, and any extras you select
• Anything you tell us in the notes field
• A booking reference we generate, and your booking's payment status

When you complete the Insurance Disclosure Declaration

Our insurer requires this before any hire. It is the most sensitive information we hold, and it is treated accordingly.

• Your full name, email address and phone number
• Your intended hire dates and booking reference
• Your answers to the insurer's disclosure questions, and any explanation you give
• An image of both sides of each driver's licence

What we do not collect

• We never see or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe on their own systems. Your card number never reaches us.
• No analytics or advertising tracking is currently active on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
• We don't buy personal information, and we don't sell yours.

Technical information

Our hosting provider processes standard web-server information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use this to build a profile of you.

• To take and manage your booking, and to contact you about it
• To take payment and, where applicable, issue refunds
• To meet our insurer's requirements so your hire can be covered
• To handle the $1,000 refundable security bond and any agreed deductions
• To meet our legal and tax obligations

We share the minimum necessary with the following service providers. Each processes information on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia — including in the United States and the European Union. Our database and file storage are hosted in Sydney, Australia. By using this site you acknowledge that your information may be handled overseas by the providers listed above, who may not be subject to Australian privacy law but are bound by their own contractual and legal obligations.

• Everything is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS)
• Driver licence images are held in private storage with no public web address. They cannot be reached by a link, and are readable only by an authorised Bondi Van Co administrator who is signed in
• Disclosure answers are protected by database access rules that deny access by default
• Administrator access is restricted to a named allowlist, and can be revoked instantly
• We don't include disclosure answers or licence images in email

No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of this information seriously and design for it deliberately.

We keep booking and payment records for as long as needed to run the business and to meet Australian tax and legal record-keeping obligations. Insurance disclosure records and licence images are kept for as long as the insurer and our hire agreement require. Enquiries are kept while we're in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards.

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it. Email bondivanco@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We use only the cookies needed to make the site work — for example, keeping an administrator signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Nothing here limits your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) or the Australian Consumer Law.
